Quality and food safety

Last updated 12 September 2026 · Applies to every product and every shipment

Every consignment we ship is contracted on measurable parameters, produced at a registered and certified facility, sampled and inspected independently at the load port, and certified by an accredited laboratory. This policy sets out those commitments and how they are kept.

1. Commitment

We supply what was agreed, verified at origin. Quality is defined in parameters a laboratory can measure, agreed with the buyer before procurement, and evidenced by a certificate of analysis that names the laboratory, the method and the analyst before the container moves.

2. Standards we work to

Food lines meet the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and the regulations under it, and the maximum residue limits, contaminant limits and labelling requirements of the destination market. Feed lines meet the undesirable-substance limits of the destination — for the European Union, Directive 2002/32/EC. Sampling follows ISO 24333 for grain and pulses and Annex I of Commission Regulation (EC) No 152/2009 for feed materials. Where the buyer's own standard is tighter than the regulation, the buyer's standard governs.

3. Certified facilities

We source only from facilities that hold the registrations and certifications their product and market require — FSSAI and APEDA registration, and the GlobalG.A.P., HACCP, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, BRCGS, Halal or GMP+ certification the buyer's market calls for. The facility and its approval number are named on the contract so the buyer can verify the chain before shipment.

4. Controls on every consignment

  • Parameters agreed in writing before procurement, and a sealed pre-shipment sample from current production sent for the buyer's approval.
  • Sampling at container stuffing by an independent inspection body chosen by or with the buyer — by spear across the full stow on bagged goods, by carton with pulp temperature on fresh produce.
  • Analysis at an NABL-accredited or equivalently accredited laboratory, reported on a certificate that names the laboratory, its accreditation, the method, the date and the signatory.
  • Containers sealed in the inspector's presence, seal numbers photographed onto the report; reefer set point and data logger written onto the booking for temperature-controlled lines.
  • Sealed retention samples held for six months, so any later question is settled against material.
  • Only lots within tolerance are loaded; any replacement lot is approved by the buyer before it ships.

5. Traceability and recall

Every lot carries a code that traces it to the farm plot, packhouse batch or mill run, and to the inspection report and certificate of analysis issued for it. Should a food-safety concern arise after shipment, we notify the buyer within one working day of learning of it, isolate the affected lot at any point we still control it, trace it forward and back, cooperate with the authorities at origin and destination, and agree corrective action with the facility. A withdrawal or recall is carried out at our direction and documented.

6. Halal, allergens and labelling

Halal-certified processing is arranged where the buyer's market requires it, and the certificate accompanies the documents. Allergen information, ingredient declarations and labelling are prepared to the destination's requirements, and private-label packing is produced to the buyer's approved artwork.

7. Claims

Quality claims are handled under our terms of sale: notified within the period stated on the contract, supported by the report of an independent surveyor at discharge, and settled against the sealed retention sample. We treat every claim as information about a control, and the finding goes back to the facility concerned.

8. Continuous improvement

Non-conformances found at pre-shipment, at loading or on arrival are recorded, traced to a root cause and closed with corrective action at the facility. Inspection and analytical results are reviewed by facility and by product, and a facility whose results do not hold is removed from our supply base.
